The International Centre for Birds of Prey

The International Centre for Birds of Prey

The International Centre for Birds of Prey is located in Newent, Gloucestershire. Over the course of the last few years it has been my considerable pleasure to visit and work there.  If my memory serves me well we visited many years ago, my Dad, Mum and two brothers.  After that it was quite some time before my work took me back there: I filmed golden eagles, barn owls and various other species.  The International Centre for Birds of Prey is a charity, and depends on the generosity of the public and visitors to fund its work. I hope I have contributed something by producing this video for the centre.

ICBP

I thoroughly recommend anyone to visit the ICBP. The centre is based in attractive rural grounds. At the time of writing the centre is undergoing some changes to make it more attractive to visitors. At the right time of the year you can see birds with their chicks. Every day the centre staff fly a range of birds of prey. There are three sessions spread throughout the day. If the weather is fine the birds will be flown on the world famous flying ground. If the weather is poor birds will be flown indoors. Display can include anything from the huge Steller’s sea eagle to the humorous burrowing owls. I find the vultures fascinating to watch. For speed junkies you cannot fail to be impressed by the sheer pace of a falcon stooping at a lure. The video features a handful of the species you are likely to see. In between times grab a coffee or some food from the cafe, lounge around the grounds, or buy a tasteful gift from the shop. Aside from the birds on display the centre has a specialised bird hospital and it is involved in birds of prey conservation projects worldwide. Just visit: you won’t regret it.
